An Unexpected Journey: From Manufacturing Data to Space Economy

After 35+ years building data architectures, I’m taking an unexpected turn: enrolling in the EIIS Space Entrepreneurship Master’s Program (partnered with Airbus and Thales Alenia Space, November 2025-November 2026).

Why space? Because the data tells a story I can’t ignore:

• Every satellite constellation launched creates new data streams for business intelligence
• Every manufacturing client unknowingly uses space-enabled positioning, timing, or communication
• Every supply chain optimization increasingly relies on satellite tracking and Earth observation
• Every Industry 4.0 implementation touches space-based IoT infrastructure

The space economy has quietly become essential infrastructure for modern business. By 2035, this will be a $1.8 trillion market, and most of it won’t look like rockets or astronauts—it’ll look like better data, faster decisions, and operational excellence.

Which brings me to Datamio. Where I live in Vorarlberg we sit between Munich, Zurich and Milan, surrounded by aerospace, precision manufacturing, and research hubs. The region is perfectly placed to become Europe’s natural bridge between manufacturing excellence and the expanding space economy.

In the next year, I will be developing workshops, strategy sessions, and partnership tiers. Interested partners will receive regular updates, insights, and early access to frameworks developed during the EIIS program.

As the founder at Datamio, I have been a Business Intelligence Data Architect for 25 years and have over 35 years of technical experience in database technologies and manufacturing automation. I have been a developer, architect, entrepreneur, founder, analyst and educator in a variety of vertical markets and technologies. I have also been a consultant to Fortune 500 and mid-market companies in the use and implementation of data warehouse architectures, unstructured data, metadata management and analytic presentation.

I am a 2018 and 2020 IBM Champion for Cloud and Blockchain, and was a 2014 IBM Champion for Information Management. I continue to provide thought leadership and research in such diverse areas as Streaming Data, Blockchain, Robotics, Modern Data Architecture and Cloud Computing. I am also a public speaker and author on topics related to Business Intelligence, disruptive technologies, mobile computing and software methodologies and am also a member of the Digitale Initiativen in Dornbirn, Austria.

Help manufacturers understand what aerospace companies need, and help aerospace companies see what manufacturers can deliver. By understanding both worlds, spot business opportunities that companies focused on just one industry can’t see.

Custom workshops exploring space economy opportunities specific to your industry, delivered after completion of EIIS Space Entrepreneurship Master’s program.

Co-developed strategies for DACH manufacturing companies to recognize and capture €50+ billion aerospace opportunities.

My Mission is Simple

To help DACH manufacturers see how their existing capabilities already meet aerospace standards before others do. Instead of waiting years for certification, we identify where your precision, traceability, and process excellence already align with aerospace requirements, and connect you with the upstream providers needing your products and services.

Let’s build a community together
